The course is carved through 1500 acres of woodland estate and offers a great challenge that rewards good play and punishes errors. You certainly have to think your way around this course, as bunkers and water give it a distinctive ‘Augusta’ feel. The best holes on the front nine are the par 3, 3rd hole with its tee shot over water and the long par 4 4th hole, which needs an accurate drive through a tree lined fairway and a pinpoint approach to a green guarded by water on the right. The 10th, 11th 13th and 14th holes are a real pleasure to all senses. The closing 2 holes pose a real test with the long par 5 17th, threading along a huge lake on the left and through large trees on either side of the fairway and the par 4, 18th with the lake this in play makes this a fitting end to one of the finest courses in Europe
