In our opinion Kingsbarns Golf Links is the most breathtaking links course built anywhere in the world in the last 50 years. The designers, Kyle Phillips and Mark Parinen, have built a course of outstanding natural beauty, which promies to overload your senses at every turn.
The detail is extraordinary, enhanced by the stunning views and the sight and smell of the ocean at every hole. It is a testing but generous course with wide fairways undulating over dune ridges, flanked by heather and wispy rough and leading to superb, spacious greens. Two of the best are the 12th - 606 yard par 5 - with the sea caressing the length of the hole and the 15th – par 3 - where the green juts into the North Sea.
For pure exhilaration and challenge, this course is hard to beat and whilst every golfer would like to play The Augusta National and St Andrews, we believe that this course runs them close. Karnsbarn deserves to host The British Open in the future as it encapsulates everything a links course should be. This course must be seen to be believed, and once seen will never be forgotten.
