Celtic Manor
Location
Celtic Manor is the perfect location for a golf day or leisure break. Set in 23,000 acres of lush welsh woodland it boasts three championship courses designed by the Robert Trent Jones Jnr.
Wentwood Hills will play host to the 2010 Ryder cup and is a regular venue for many golf events such as the European tours Welsh Open. This magnificent 7403 yard, par 72 course led Seve Ballesteros to declare it as one of the most beautiful courses he had ever played on and offers, in the words of the designer, “a bit of Augusta, a bit of Florida and a lot of Wales.”The Roman road course, which opened in 1995, was quickly established as the best inland course in Wales. Against a spectacular backdrop of the seven estuary valley and views as far as the Brecon Beacons and Devon this magnificent course combines the long open fairways of the front nine, with the back nine winding its way through trees and across lakes and streams. Coldra Woods is a par 59 course, consisting of five par 4s and 13 par 3s. Despite its length it has been described as one of the toughest short courses in Britain by Golf International magazine. This course winds through wooded valley and criss-crosses a picturesque lake. This short but challenging round is perfect for a 36-hole golf day, combined with either Wentwood or Roman road courses.
