On 4 July the new Celtic Manor 2010 Ryder Cup course will be open to the playing public, after 5 years of redevelopment work costing £16m.

50,000 spectators a day are expected at this event and every possible has been done to make this the most spectator friendly event ever.  The drama will unfold as ever around the final three holes, with spectators watching the action from grass banked areas that will create a unique atmosphere as the worlds greatest golfers battle it out for the most famous team prize in world golf.

The new Wentworth Lakes course is par-71; measuring 7,493 yards consists of nine new holes, 1st to 5th and 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th, with extensively remodelled of holes 6th to 13th and 15th from the Wentworth Hills course.  The new course now has six signature holes - the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 14th, 15th and 18th all feature water hazards.A few holes on the course have been cleverly designed with the four-ball Ryder Cup format in mind, most notably the 14th - a par-four at 421 yards.  Long hitters being tempted to carry the entire length of the lake to the right to leave a straightforward wedge to the green.  If unsuccessful their playing partners will have to take the conventional route with a more challenging approach over water to keep them in the hole.

The new course promises to deliver all the theatre we expect from the final few holes whilst providing a stern test of your golfing talents in the process
