Why have a golf day?
Why have golf days? This may seem like a curious question for a golf event organiser to pose but it is important if you are undecided as to whether to stage an event or not.
Let’s look at two scenarios.
Your sales force may visit clients on a regular basis, often spending 2-3 hours or more travelling to and from meetings, which may last no longer than 60 minutes. These meetings are open to interruption as you are at your clients’ place of work and they obviously have a job to do. As such, often little is achieved during these meetings and they turn into little more than courtesy calls rather than the productive meetings you envisaged. Think of the hours involved in travelling to and from these meetings. The cost involved in terms of salaries, travel and other expenses doesn’t make for a very cost effective way of maintaining and securing new business does it?
The Golf Day gives you a wonderful opportunity to invite specific clients to your event where you have the opportunity to discuss their requirements at leisure, without fear of interruption for a whole day or even longer. Not that your are going to discuss work all day, its about enjoying the experience and relaxing after all. Knowing at some point you can discuss business at your leisure without fear of interruption, gives you and your clients the ideal atmosphere to develop long lasting business relationships which would otherwise take months if not years to forge.
The golf day organised correctly, achieves what most other marketing activities find impossible. Bringing together every key person on one day to enjoy, relax, and without effort build relationship that will help benefit both parties now, and will into the future.
